Mayfair – Sexy Fish opened its doors just few months ago and I immediately heard about it as a cool and hilarious spot where you can dine or just drink, too.
It belongs to the same group of J. Sheekey, the well known celebrity restaurant in Covent Garden.
I went to Sexy Fish last Friday and I had a lovely experience: good vibe and delicious food! There was a DJ playing music during the dinner so it was quite loud, but really enjoyable.
The decor of the restaurant is stunning, very original and opulent and it comes from the art of Damien Hirst and Frank Gehry.
The Asian cuisine is focused on Japanese specialities and results excellent, also thanks to the freshness of the fish. I suggest sushi and sashimi, the sea bass tiradito and the salmon carpaccio. But the amazing course is the dessert: the chocolate fondant is simply unbelievable!!
Kitchen usually close at 11:3opm (on Sunday at 11pm), so you can eat quite late as well. In addition, Sexy Fish is one of the few restaurants opened on Sunday in Mayfair area, that becomes rather quiet in that day.
Regarding drinks, there are lots of Japanese whiskys in the list and cocktails are made with creative ingredients. My favourite one is Rice Rice Baby with rum, rice horchata, yuzu sake, Jerry Thomas bitters and other few elements.
The service sometimes is not so satisfying, for the experience I had, but it did not affect my positive opinion of this glamorous restaurant that I absolutely recommend!
